Margaret Alleva has been an artist most of her life, earning a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the Massachusetts College of Art. Margaret is a painterly expressionist who works in oils and acrylics. Her art is ever evolving as she finds new subjects to paint about and new ways to express her ideas in paint. Margaret's subjects range from the stars to volcanic earth to the ocean to abstracts.

The artist has a respect for and is inspired by all art that speaks to the soul, including prehistoric rock art, the classical art of ancient Greece and Rome, early Christian and Coptic art, Renaissance painters and architects, and modern masters such as Cezanne, Picasso, Braque, Pollock, Joan Mitchell, Sean Scully and Anselm Kiefer.

Margaret has had many one-person shows including exhibits at the World Trade Center, Atlanta, GA; Foundry Gallery, Washington, DC; Capital One Corporation, ArtMasters Gallery, Cox Communications Corporation and George Mason University, all in Northern Virginia.

Group exhibits include the 2005 International Space Development Conference, Arlington, VA; Reinike Gallery, Atlanta, GA; Lalit Kala Gallery, New Delhi, India; and Harvard University, Cambridge, MA as well as several in the Washington, DC area.

Margaret Alleva is listed in the archives of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC. Her work is in private and corporate collections nationally.
